Questions To Ask Your Doctor

If you or someone you know have been diagnosed with AMD you should check with your eye doctor for regular updates on the status of AMD. AMD research is ongoing and your doctor may have new information for you.

Here are some questions to consider asking your doctor during your next visit:

  • What kind of AMD do I have: dry or wet?
  • What stage of AMD do I have: early, intermediate, or advanced?
  • Can AMD be treated, and if so, what treatment do you recommend?
  • If I have developed advanced dry AMD, is there any way to help prevent it from advancing to the wet form, which causes severe vision loss?
  • If AMD reaches a stage where it severely threatens my vision, is there any therapy that can slow its progress and delay vision loss?
  • In your opinion, should I take vitamins and minerals for my eyes?
  • If vision loss eventually becomes severe, what's available to help me make the most of my remaining vision?
  • What else can I do to help save my sight?
