FOR RELEASE Thursday, April 21, 2005
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Bausch & Lomb has kicked off a series of traveling educational programs that offer eye care professionals certification for Bausch & Lomb's Vision Shaping Treatment TM system as well as the specific lens designs for overnight orthokeratology under VST.
The company requires eye care professionals interested in fitting their patients with specific Vision Shaping Treatment, ortho-k lens designs to receive this certification. The certification program continues through early summer. For locations and dates, please visit www.bausch.com/vsttour.
Bausch & Lomb's Vision Shaping Treatment is a system that offers distinct ortho-k lens designs fitted empirically, using Ks and Rx, as well as lens designs that are fitted diagnostically or use topographical data and software. The various lens designs and their respective fitting protocols are intended to provide eye care professionals with a variety of ortho-k lens options to enhance the success of the corneal-shaping process for their patients.
Made of Boston® Equalens® II (oprifocon A) gas permeable material, these custom-made ortho-k lenses are worn overnight to gently reshape the cornea to reduce nearsightedness and low amounts of astigmatism, allowing for device-free, daylong vision. The Vision Shaping Treatment designs currently offered include: BE Retainer, Contex OK E-System, DreamLens and Euclid Emerald .
