FOR RELEASE
Monday, August 29, 2005
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Bausch & Lomb has launched a web site to support
its SofPort®
Advanced Optics intraocular lens, the
first spherical-aberration-free aspheric IOL, and its
SofPort Easy-Load Lens Delivery System, which is designed for
more efficient cataract surgery.
The web site - www.sofportrevolution.com - is designed for eye care professionals and patients, and features animated demonstrations that showcase the features and benefits of the Bausch & Lomb SofPort system including its unique lens design; biocompatibility; decentration analysis; potential optical performance and lens placement into the Easy-Load inserter.
The Bausch & Lomb SofPort AO, a foldable silicone IOL with PMMA haptics and a 360-degree square-edge optical profile to reduce incidence of posterior capsule opacification, is designed for use with the SofPort Easy-Load Lens Delivery System. This system is the first and only integrated, single-use, single-handed planar delivery IOL insertion system that allows aspheric IOL insertion through a sub-3.0 mm incision for less invasive surgery and improved patient recovery time.
Bausch & Lomb's Easy-Load Lens Delivery System allows surgeons to load the lens into the inserter without touching or aligning the IOL with forceps, virtually eliminating mishandling and damage to the lens for more predictable, reliable insertion.
For more information about the SofPort system and answers to frequently asked questions, visit www.sofportrevolution.com or call a Bausch & Lomb surgical representative at 1-800-338-2020.
